"Being a member of G2G has, without doubt, changed my life for the better."

“I am a 68 year old woman who joined G2G almost three years ago. I joined in the hope that I might be able to overcome some neurological damage that made it difficult for my brain to communicate with my left leg. At the time it was difficult to even get my leg to lift onto a small box of about five inches high, let alone stand up on it. Through dedicated attendance and adherence to a carefully personalised programme of resistance and weight training, alongside work on balance and flexibility, I can now step up onto a bed without holding on to anything (or any other assistance). This is the most obvious manifestation of a whole range of subtle but life changing transformations that G2G coaches and training have given me. My posture has improved along with my balance and mobility, and my growing ability to pick things up off the ground (including myself) and to lift and carry heavy objects (yes, also including myself), has given me greater independence and confidence. Three years of training have left me so much happier with the way that I can move in the world, and I find comfort in knowing that I am actively working to avoid the dangers of falling that are especially detrimental to older people. To my genuine surprise, I have learned that it is possible for older women to transform our bodies in very positive ways, in terms of both functionality and aesthetics. To be clear, the attainment of these benefits of membership in G2G requires a serious commitment, largely because the processes of improvement are inherently very incremental. Gradual betterment is also a product of programs that are designed to avoid injury and to produce lasting effects. Happily, making the necessary commitment is easier when you realise that if you just show up and follow your programme you will, over time, reap the rewards that I have described, and very likely attain more personal goals, as well. Believing in the assurances of this process is made easier by personal experiences of changes over time, but also through the casual and unobtrusive observation of the progress of other members. G2G fosters a very friendly and supportive environment in which to train, and knowing that others are working hard all around you is both motivating and inspiring. There is no pressure to engage with others but, for me, the community has made training much more fun and I have learned so much about the most unlikely things because members pursue such diverse interests. I have also had the great pleasure of interacting with people of all ages and from many different walks of life and I am grateful that there is never any hint of brash noisiness or competition. Being a member of G2G has, without doubt, changed my life for the better, and I totally recommend it to those who are inspired by and/or resonate with these few comments and observations.”
