How much does a personal trainer in Edinburgh cost?
A personal trainer in Edinburgh can range between £40 and £80+ per hour. One session a week and you’re looking at anywhere £160 and £320. Multiple sessions a week and you’re looking at even more. This is why we’re advocates for coaching. Because a private gym in Edinburgh with coaches on the floor is more cost-effective than a PT. And it can help you build habits that last.
Who’s the best personal trainer in Edinburgh?
There are plenty of fantastic personal trainers in Edinburgh. But we honestly think the best personal trainer is you with between four and six months of coaching at G2G. One of our coaches Rauraidh wrote an article on the importance of a coaching-based environment and how much more effective stacked up against personal training.
What’s the difference between a Personal Trainer and a Coach?
Personal training is built on instruction. Your trainer tells you what to do, they’re beside you while you do it, and it works well for as long as the sessions continue.
Coaching has a different goal. Your coach builds the plan around you, teaches you the skills it asks for, and then hands over ownership so you can run it yourself. Both are valid. The difference is that one keeps you dependent on the sessions and the other is designed to make you self-sufficient.
Our co-founder Aidan has written about this in more depth about the differences between Training vs. Coaching.
How does G2G Coaching work?
You start with a free consultation call where we talk through your goals, your training history and anything you’re working around. Your coach then writes a programme built specifically for you.
You book a slot, come in, and train your own programme at your own pace, with a qualified coach on the gym floor every session for form checks or questions. The gym is capped so there’s always space and equipment.
Over time you learn what your plan is doing and why, so you’re running your own training rather than waiting to be told what to do.
Is G2G Coaching cheaper than a personal trainer in Edinburgh?
Yes. One personal training session a week costs roughly £160 to £320 a month, and two sessions a week can reach £640. A G2G Coaching membership starts at £139. And membership covers every session you train rather than a fixed number of booked hours. So you’re getting coaching more often, for less than you’d pay a personal trainer for one hour a week.
Can I still get one-to-one coaching with G2G?
Yes. Our G2G Performance membership gives you a dedicated coach who carries out a full movement assessment, builds your programme around your goals and injury history, and reviews your progress with you every month. It’s the closest thing we offer to a traditional personal trainer relationship, without paying by the hour.
If that’s what you’re after, mention it on your consultation call and we’ll talk it through.
