AIDAN DONNELLY

Health & Physical Performance Coach/ Director and Co-Founder
Hi I’m Aidan, I am one of the co-founders of G2G, along with Ollie. We started the company in 2017 from our shared passion and interest in returning to activity and sport after injury. Along with this we wanted to build a coaching business and product that delivered sustainable results whilst developing other coaches and providing them with career opportunities. My interests lie first and foremost in the development of strength and muscle mass along with technique, and how this influences both resilience and recovery from injury. I find chronic pain fascinating, and love helping people understand and become aware of the different areas that contribute to the their pain, and develop a plan to get them back to activity.

Background

Through my love for developing strength, muscle mass and enhancing athleticism I’ve worked in both the field of High Performance Sport as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, and the Fitness Industry as a Personal Trainer. I developed, coached, and coordinated Strength and Conditioning programmes at Elite level with a range of athletes and sports from Baseball in the U.S. to Rugby in Scotland. I worked with individuals who were focused on general goals around body re-composition, fat loss and movement. I also coached powerlifters and bodybuilders to National competitions and titles. My own experience with a back injury and how this had a significant impact on my life and confidence in my athleticism and capability, lead to my focus around injury. After witnessing the impact injuries and long-term/ chronic pain had on many of the clients and athletes around me, I dedicated my time to understanding this area and where I could have the biggest impact. This involved furthering my education, and spending time with coaches and clinicians dedicated to injury and chronic pain. My sporting background is predominantly in powerlifting, but I’ve competed vey successfully in a wide variety of sports. Top of my list remains Powerlifting, Weightlifting and Bodybuilding which I hope to continue to do until someone has to peal me off a platform. I like to maintain hobbies and interests that are important to me outside of anything weightlifting, otherwise I would be thinking about the gym 24/7 and I don’t think that’s sustainable. I think everyone needs a balance.

Coaching style

I like to draw upon all the different experiences and knowledge I’ve gained through coaching, competing in different sports, and a variety of different hobbies. My aim is to try and really understand the person I am working with, what motivates them and what got them to where they are at. Then find out what is it they want, and what its is they believe they need to do. I like to integrate together the areas of understanding I have around strength and conditioning, nutrition, rehabilitation and psychology of exercise to develop an overall idea and plan on how to get from the current point to the goal taking into account all the various demands a person has in their life.
